26-28 Ely Place
Service: Fit Out
Sector: Commercial
Ely Place is a gated road of multi-storey terraces in London. Within the gates sits a 1773-rebuilt public house, Ye Olde Mitre which is of Tudor origin. The site is privately managed by a body of commissioners and beadles and was once the residence of the Bishops of Ely who lived there from 1290 to 1772. Such a prestigious site required a highly skilled team, and so BSPS were called in to re-fit the office complex.
The team stripped out the existing partitions, fixtures and fittings including the existing MEP systems and installed new floor mounted fan coil units and new exposed supply and extract ductwork. New partitions were constructed to provide meeting rooms and lighting and a new kitchen were installed. To the third floor, the team decorated and installed new lighting and floor finishes to the existing stairs, remodelled and upgraded the entrance hallway and lift lobby to provide a modern contemporary feel to the premises.
As part of the works, an AC replacement programme was completed which involved taking down a large section of MF ceiling taking up existing floors.
As Ely Place is privately managed, it comes with its own rules and restrictions which BSPS had to observe as well as working around a busy office. Despite these challenges, the project was fully complete within 12 weeks to welcome the staff.
